When we launched Crestview Doors in 2007, we were the only company to offer authentic mid-century modern doors for 50's ranch homes, modern bungalows, original Eichlers, and Eames-style houses. You see, we embarked on the remodel of our own 1951 home in 2006, but we couldn't find a period-appropriate front door to compliment the original mid-century architecture. My husband, David, measured a door on an atomic ranch house one street over on Pasadena Ave. -- a simple, modern door with three square windows running right down the middle. We decided to make a replica.

Our vision unexpectedly turned into a business. When we posted photos of the new door to our houseblog, we were shocked at the response. Readers from all over the country asked where they could find a similar door! David and I knew that no one else was interested in making them; after all, when we went asking for a similar design around town, the response we got was, "Why would you want a door like that?"

We started out building custom doors by hand in our neighbor's garage. What we thought would be a fun little side business turned into a bustling startup. A depressed economy encouraged us to offer an economical, do-it-yourself option, so we decided to create Doorlite Kits™ for homeowners and pros alike. These wood and glass window inserts add windows to any door for the same Crestview look you know and love, and they are fast, easy and affordable. Eventually, we took our research and expertise and branched out into an array of new products including Redi-Screens®, our exquisite decorative wood screens perfect for use as sliding doors, pocket doors, articulating doors, room partitions, room dividers, hanging screens or mounted screens, headboards, or in any other manner that showcases them as a beautiful and unique architectural element.
