Celeste Poston's Metropolitan Makeover
Bold geometry and cultural antiquities add sophistication to this unbelievable South Carolina ranch-style renovation.

When Celeste Poston first sent us the before and after pictures of her front door, our jaws dropped. By replacing the front door as well as sidelights and transom (the windows to the side of and above the door) she took her South Carolina home from ranch-style to ravishing!
Celeste chose the "Burbank" with reeded glass. From the street, the updated look added a bold sophistication to the home. Inside the front entry, the sputnik lamp from Palm Springs Vintage Oasis and bold striping elicited excited comments from our Facebook fans.
Celeste says that her personal sense of style and decor is Jetsons-meets-tiki. She explains, "I look for items with clean lines that add a sleek, sophisticated feel to the elements of Hawaiian and African culture that we've picked up through travelling."

Celeste first heard about Crestview Doors when she saw the ad in an issue of Atomic Ranch magazine. The home, built in 1960, had decorative brickwork on the exterior that led a friend to suggest they pick the "Burbank" layout. "I have to give so much credit to [interior designer and friend] Tim McClendon," Celeste explains. "His expertise and suggestions brought our home back to the 1960's, where it belongs."
In fact, Celeste was so pleased with the quality and results of the Crestview Doors product that it was the first place she turned to when considering putting new doors on the wet bar in her den. She wanted something that was a nod to the decorative screens of the mid-century, and asked David and Christiane if they had any suggestions. David mocked up a couple of possibilities, and Celeste chose a Moroccan-inspired pattern that allowed a seductive peek at the interior of the bar space.
"I saw these amazing screens at a lecture sponsored by the Heritage Society of Austin. Dwayne Jones from Historic Galveston provided me with the slide and I digitized a version of the pattern hoping for an opportunity to reproduce it someday. " - David Erwin

What do you think of the new doors? Celeste and her husband are now considering options as they look for ways to add privacy and sound control to their media room. You can tell us what you think or give her your suggestions by leaving us a note on Facebook.
