Jeff and Dave's 62 Special in St. Louis

A new front door brings this St. Louis split-level home to life, thanks to Authorized Installer Steve Helvey.

It would be an understatement to say that Jeff King and David Hund aren't afraid of color. Their home is a panoply of pizazz, every turn leads to something that catches the eye and excites the soul! "The front of the home is mostly glass," Jeff explains, "It inspired us to go bold with color and art."

Now the house that was once the model home for the 1962 neighborhood is a monument to the mid-century time period in which it was built. Using a combination of vintage and reproduction furniture, modern art, colorful contemporary accessories, and pro lighting design, the home shines through and through.

After hearing about Crestview Doors through Atomic Ranch magazine, Jeff and Dave decided to add curb appeal to their brick ranch house with the "Allandale," agreeing that the five windows would help to brighten the entry even as the horizontal lines provided contrast to the vertical lines of the front windows.

It is no surprise that they chose a bright red paint to pair with their retro-inspired "Cosmic Light" from Inmod.com to freshen their front entry. All of the interior and exterior design elements were thoughtfully combined. "The hourglass shape and spun aluminum body (of the "Cosmic Light") really help to complete the look," he says. "That, and the Neutra-inspired house numbers that we backed with a piece of steel from the hardware store."

To install the new door, Jeff and Dave hired a local Crestview Doors Authorized Installer. Jeff explains, "We've certainly done our share of DIY projects, but installing a new front door was more than we were comfortable with. When it was discovered that a local company was installing your product, it was a no-brainer to call. We were very pleased with the work performed by Steve Helvey of Open Sesame Doors in St. Louis." Please Note: Steve has since relocated to Jacksonville, Florida where he is now principal of Jax Doors N More.
