Mid-Century Escutcheons

Escutcheons (Trim Rosettes)
An escutcheon is a decorative plate placed behind the doorknob.
There was a trend in the fifties and sixties to decorate
modern doors with large geometric escutcheons. There were
circle, diamond (right), square, star, and cross hair designs.
Vintage Escutcheons made by Schlage and Kwikset are occasionally available on Ebay, in local junk shops, and on the curb on bulk trash day.
5 Inch Backset Adapter Kits
In order to place a knob or deadbolt 5 inches

that are compatible with certain deadbolts and knobs.

18 Inch Backset Adapter Kits
Unfortunately, the 18-inch adapter kits that allowed for centered doorknobs are no longer in production. If you have the hardware, we can create a door prepped for a centered knob for you, and if you send us the hardware we can place it in the door, fill it and paint it.
